Help others Good meaning torii

Jigong Good meaning torii at Tangdong East Bridge, Huamei village, Caitang town, is Qing Guang Xu year, revenue manager grandfather of Shen Saoyuan, wife of second grade Shen Xuequan established. In Guang Xu Qing dynasty flood, revenue master Shen Shaoyuan complied lecture, “Aid the poor and relieving as first” of his grandparent, donate silver 1,200 tael, buy clothes 1,200 pieces. In order to honor his benevolence, Li Hongzhang submit letter to Guang Xu emperor, require kindly permit Shen Shaoyuan establish torii in native place, and “Give help others good meaning word”, Guang Xu ratify memorial to the throne.

This workshop established in 1888, finished in 1891, is a four pole three layer torii, forehead across write “Jigong Good meaning”, engraved couplet respectively by satrap Li Hongzhang, Yi Yong Zeng Jizhe, minister of war, governor general of Guangxi and Guangdong Zhang Zhidong, minister of rites Kun Gang. In 1891，ranked as Chaozhou cultural relic under state protection.
