Ping-pong steamed rice-powder
Ping-pong steamed rice-powder is a kind of flavor nosh in Chaozhou, can see everywhere in Chaoshan.
Ping-pong steamed rice-powder passed for a long time in folk; i t is evolved from Shuqu steamed rice-powder.
At late Tang dynasty, some people in Chaoshan put sticky rice millet (that is peel off sticky rice) in boiler, bake with charcoal fire slowly, and turn over repeat, till sticky rice expand, break hull and burst out, after cooked mill into powder, as stuffing of Shuqu steamed rice-powder.
After baked with charcoal fire, especially sticky rice hull has a special corn fragrant, but due to sticky rice millet give out ¡°Ping Ping Pang Pang¡± sound during the process of baking, so people call this kind of steamed rice-powder ¡°Ping-pong mix grain¡±. After appearance of Ping-pong steamed rice-powder, it loved by Chaozhou soon, and passes to southeast.
Ping-pong steamed rice-powder see from appearance, feel soft, and taste is crisp and sweet, very delicious.
