Dasheen return to sugar

Return to grain sugar is a kind of Chaozhou cooking, method is melt white sugar into syrup, put fried cooked or cooked treatment original material in syrup, wait it cool and concreting, syrup as a hoar wrap at outer layer of original material. Because Chaozhou people call white sugar as grain sugar, become solid powered sugar after cooling, so return to grain sugar has the meaning of resume grain sugar original shape.

In Chaozhou nosh, many variety is adopt “return to sugar” to finish, more famous is dasheen return to sugar.

Dasheen return to sugar due to adopt dasheen that rich in starch and white sugar, so when eating is especially crisp and fragrant. In Chaozhou nosh, some people adopt that put dasheen with sweet potato in a tray, because dasheen turns white color, sweet potato turns golden, people called “Gold pole and silver pole”.

Dasheen return to sugar is also a kind of nosh on feast.
